Jarrahdale Pumpkin
Slate, blue-grey, 6 to 10 lb pumpkins of superb quality. Their shape is flat, ribbed, and very decorative; also a good keeper. Popular in Australia, an excellent variety. One of the more tasty varieties for many savory dishes and is excellent for a year-round supply of squash, as these will often keep well over 12 months!
Zucchini Gray Squash
Great-tasting, high-quality, gray zucchini squash. Yields are very good; flesh is firm, mild, and very tasty.
Winter Luxury Pie Pumpkin
This beautiful pumpkin was introduced by Johnson & Stokes in 1893. Lovely 6-lb golden fruit has white netting and are perfect for pies. In fact, this is one of the best tasting pie pumpkins you can grow; with very sweet and smooth flesh, it’s a favorite of all who grow it.
Long White of Palermo Zucchini
The famed treasure of Sicilian cooking! A gourmet traditional heirloom from Palermo, Sicily, that is highly regarded across Italian cuisine. Fruit average 12-15 inches and are a unique sage green color with faint speckles. This buttery textured variety is instrumental in a number of dishes from zucchini parmesan to salads and pastas. We love to create tasty dishes of all kinds, playing on the nutty sweet flavor and tender texture. Wonderfully productive and flavorsome!
Honey Boat Delicata Squash
One of the sweetest squash varieties in existence. Oblong, Delicata-shaped squash has tan skin with green stripes. Excellent quality and produces early. Developed by Dr. James Baggett, Oregon State University. So delicious and flavorful!
Zucchini Golden Squash
Slender fruit is bright golden-yellow. It is as delicious as it is attractive; bush plants. Customers love the fine flavor and pretty fruit.
White Scallop Squash
A very ancient Native American heirloom squash, grown by the Northern tribes for hundreds of years. This type was depicted by Europeans back to 1591, and is one of the best-tasting and highest-yielding varieties still around today! Great fried or baked. Flat fruit with scalloped edges--beautiful!
Lemon Squash
The shape, size and color of a lemon, it grows great here, with huge yields and the best resistance to insects we have seen in a summer squash. Very tasty, great fried! A favorite, this is a superb market variety and very attractive. Our most popular summer squash.
Honey Butternut Squash
A mini butternut squash with a gourmet pedigree, widely regarded as one of the best-tasting squash of all time! This squash reaches just 4 to 5 inches long, making a single serving size and quicker to roast whole! Bred by renowned vegetable breeder Michael Mazourek of Cornell.
Prescott Fond Blanc Melon
The most unique and beautiful French melon we sell! The fruit is 4-9 lbs., very flattened and ribbed, with warts and bumps. Melons have grey/green skin turning straw color; flesh is salmon-orange. Once one of the best known melons, it was mentioned in the 1860’s, but it likely is much older. The flavor is very rich if picked at perfection, and the fragrance is heavenly. This is a favorite melon of ours, almost unheard of in this country.
Pineapple Squash
Young fruit are delicious as summer squash and mature fruit make incredible stuffed squash. In 1884, the Burpees catalog introduced the Pineapple squash with much excitement. Burpees hailed it as one of the most fine-grained squashes around, well suited to cooking as an immature summer squash or as a mature winter squash. We have to agree! Countless seedsman who offered Pineapple squash in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Cream colored, fluted, acorn-type fruits have about ten finger-like ribs that protrude from the sides of each squash. Also makes an excellent ornamental type for fall decoration. In 1885 by James J.H. Gregory’s Retail Catalogue, which said, “A peculiar, striking-looking variety... Very fine grained and smooth to the taste.”
Listada Di Gandia Eggplant
One of the most popular heirloom types, this one has 7-inch long fruit that is white with lovely bright purple stripes. It is so beautiful and has fabulous flavor with sweet, tender flesh. This excellent variety hails from Spain, a country that is renowned for fine food
Gelber Englischer Custard Squash
Clear lemon yellow fruit is a patty pan type, but with a bizarre twist. Fruit is oddly flattened—impossible to describe. Productive bush plants yield over a long season if kept picked. Recommended for cooler climates like the Pacific Northwest. This unique variety originated in Gatersleben, Germany.
